Best Left Buried: Rare Puppers

This week instead of working on my dungeon like I was supposed to I've cobbled together something a little weird. Here are a bunch of strange, scary, and cute doggos statted as BLB monsters you can use however you like. Some are probably good guards while others will perform well as special retainers if your players can train them to be good. Adaptation's are taken from the Cryptdigger's Guide and the Hunter's Guide to Monsters unless stated otherwise. Thanks for reading. 


Temple Dog

Made of stone with a lions face. Though a living creature can hold its breathe for long periods of time while on watch allowing it to become indistinguishable from its surroundings. It's bite causes paralysis and eventually turns one to stone. 

Brawn: 1 Wit: 1 Will: 0

Vigour: 15  Armour: 9

Disguise, Petrifying Fangs*

Stone Fangs (Hand)

Special Adaptation: Petrifying Fangs. As Petrifying Gaze but its range is reduced to Melee. If the Temple Dog inflicts an injury with Stone Fangs can choose to turn a creature to stone already affected by Petrifying Gaze.

1. Serene. 2. Sagely. 3. Looming. 4. Judging. 5. Prowling. 6. Stoic.


Id-Hound

Blind. Mewling and pathetic being with a body like old cracked leather. Smells fear, pain, and lust. Dreadful howls bring others to madness. Raises the dead as more Id-Hounds. 

Brawn: 1 Wit: 2 Will: -1

Vigour: 18 Grip: 3 Armour: 6

Bloodscent, Terrifying Roar, Chase Them Down

Vicious Claws (Hand)

Special Adaptation: Lonely No More. If an Id-Hound kill another creature it can spend 1 Grip to transform the corpse into another Id-Hound.

1. Lonely. 2. Starving. 3. Cackling. 4. Mournful. 5. Dreaming. 6. Hunting.


Raikoudoodle

Mutt praised by fisherfolk for their sense of smell that can even predict storms. Covered in sctintallating spines similar to a porcupine. When angry can electrify the spines to protect itself.

Brawn: 0 Wit: 1 Will: 1

Vigour: 22  Armour: 7

Aquatic, Nimble, Lightning Spines

Powerful Jaws (Heavy)

Special Adaptation: Lightning Spines: As an action, the Raikoudoodle can spend 1-3 Grip to charge its spines with lightning. When a character in the same Zone fails a check they are struck by Lightning equal to the Grip spent.

1. Playful. 2. Fishing. 3. Bristling. 4. Studying. 5. Eager. 6. Storming.


Sunspot Retriever

Flesh and fur appear charred during the day as it droops lazily throughout the day. Moonlight heals its mottled flesh into a fleece of gold that shines like sunlight. Helps creatures lost at night find their way home.

Brawn: 1 Wit: 0 Will: 2

Vigour: 24 Grip: 6 Armour: 8

Luminescent, Cacophonous, Censure, Saviour

Sun Ray (Ranged)

Special Adaptation: Savior. Can perform a Heroic Rescue on anyone they can see regardless of distance.

 1. Napping. 2. Beaming. 3. Searching. 4. Glowering. 5. Pensive. 6. Beckoning.


Squire Terrier

Chivalrous beast of refined skill with barding and sword. Quests for a worthy knight to swear its eternal service to. Must be of pure heart and impeccable honor. Knows no fear.

Vigour: 30 Grip: 8  Armour: 9

Rampage, Defender, Hex-Addled, Sworn

Bastard Sword (Long)

Special Adaptation: Sworn. Can swear eternal fealty to a character after an hour long ritual peformed in a holy place. Can Gang Up as long as they are in the same or adjacent Zone as their Sworn ally.

1. Obedient. 2. Watchful. 3. Training. 4. Combative. 5. Impertinent. 6. Questing.


Smith-Hound

Working dog. Short temper. Iron flecked fur and a tail shaped like an iron hammer. Eats rust. Jaws can shatter weapons and pierce armor.

Vigour: 20  Armour: 7

Iron-Shelled, Sundering, Weakness (Fire)

Tail Smash (Heavy)

1. Patient. 2. Salvaging. 3. Working. 4. Grumbling. 5. Demanding 6. Fierce.


Forge Dog

Beings of elemental fire. Emanates sweltering heat. Feeds the flames with any food that it can find. Can vomit molten metal. 

Brawn: 2 Wit: 0 Will: 1

Vigour: 30  Armour: 7

Elemental (Fire), Aura of Exhaustion, Clumsy Movements, Violent End

Lava Fangs (Hand)

:Mood: 

1. Waning. 2. Ashen. 3. Kindling. 4. Spitting. 5. Smoldering. 6. Searing.


Ethereal Shepard

Psychopomp that herds ghosts and wraiths. Can banish malevolent spirits with its howl.  Terrified of demons. Resembles a childhood pet. 

Brawn: 1 Wit: 1 Will: 1

Vigour: 18 Grip: 3 Armour: 7

Ethereal, Corpsemover, Undead

Shadow Claws (Thrown)

Special Adaptation: Dirge. As an Action, the Ethereal Shepard can spend 1-3 Grip to howl and deal Vigour damage to other Undead equal to twice the amount of Grip spent. 

:Mood:

1. Wandering. 2. Herding. 3. Tormented. 4. Sorrowful. 5. Wretched. 6. Vengeful.
